Lapteva The four works that were awarded a prize: 1. Open Air Cafe were selected from a total of 20 entries from a single class of students at the Moscow Institute of Architecture. In awarding the prizes, the jury would like to clearly acknowledge all the entries which treat the design and constructional possibilities of textile building in this playful manner. The selected work shows a high level of creative diversity and imaginative ideas for using textile membranes as the primary structural element in a variety of uses. The formal idea was evaluated and judged without taking particular account of whether the work could be implemented structurally. The jury wish to encourage the lively and varied concepts expressed in these models and to provide a stimulus for continuing to work in this form as part of a “normal” architectural training. |
