Amoco's Andrusko announces retirement;
Johnson named to lead Fabrics and Fibers CompanyATLANTA, Feb. 24, 1998 Amoco Fabrics and Fibers Company (AFFC) President Frank Andrusko recently announced both his intention to retire and his successor, Bill Johnson, as president of the company.
The announcement was made during a live, in-house television broadcast to employees located throughout the company. During the broadcast, Andrusko also announced that Johnson - Vice President, Global Business Management for Amoco Polymers, would succeed him as president of AFFC, effective April 1. Andrusko will work with Johnson to ensure a smooth transition.
Andrusko has been president of AFFC since 1992. During his 38-year career with Amoco, Andrusko, a 1959 chemical engineering graduate from the University of Delaware, has covered a lot of ground. He began his Amoco career when the company acquired Avisun Company, a pioneer in producing polypropylene. Andrusko was named plant manager at the Amoco Fabrics Company in Nashville, Georgia. He later became vice president of marketing - olefins and polymers, and vice president of business management for polymers. In 1989, Andrusko returned to AFFC as vice president, marketing of industrial fibers, and later as vice president and general manager for fabrics in 1990. Andrusko is a board member of Institute of Textile Technology, Georgia Textile Manufacturers Association, and Center for Quality Excellence.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Amoco, AFFC and the good people who make up the company, Andrusko said. I firmly believe the company has very good plans in place and a bright future ahead of it. I'm sure the employees will do what they can to help Bill Johnson in his new role.
Johnson, a 1979 mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Oklahoma and a 1983 MBA graduate from the Harvard Business School, has worked with Amoco for 15 years. During his career, Johnson has worked with various business, commercial, and finance areas, including a previous stint with AFFC. He also has international experience, having worked in venture development with Amoco Chemical Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.
I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work with a group that is widely recognized in its industry as being the leader, Johnson said. I look forward to rejoining AFFC, and working with the many talented people there. We have a number of terrific products, and I am eager to lead the AFFC team.
In mid-1996, Johnson returned from Hong Kong to the U.S. to Amoco's Polymers Business Group in the role of business manager for Amoco's global polypropylene business. Six months later, he assumed his most recent position of vice president of global business management, where he has general business responsibility for all of Amoco's polymer products.
Amoco Fabrics and Fibers Company (AFFC) is the world's largest producer of carpet backing fabrics, geotextiles and woven polypropylene industrial fabrics. AFFC is based in Atlanta and is a business unit of Chicago-based Amoco Corporation.
