Teijin to Expand EU Aramid Fiber Plant

TOKYO, June 14 /Reuters/ — Japanese polyester manufacturer Teijin Ltd. said on Thursday it will invest 200 million euro ($234 million) to build a new manufacturing line to boost aramid fibre output at a plant run by its Teijin Twaron unit in the Netherlands.

The move is to meet growing demand for aramid fibres, which are used as optical fibre parts, the company said.

The new line is expected to begin operation in April 2003.
